Aha!

Well, after bumbling around for a while with inelegant definitions, I’ve found a clear direction in which to proceed (though more inelegance is probably inevitable). Using the sun radiation calculating definition (thanks for that!), and a randomly generated surface, I want to create a system of shades built from standardized components (my polygonal panels) to optimally shade some parts of the surface, while allowing maximum light to reach others (basically attempting to equalize sunlight received). I’ll probably keep longitude and latitude constant and develop iterations based on different surfaces, since (so far) changing the day of the year used by the sun angle calculator doesn’t create much in the way of variation.

I’m not sure if I’ll have to venture into the script to make this work. If I do, I may not be able to finish it in a week, and will have to scale it back. If I can come up with a satisfactory system just in GH components, then I’ll be a happier camper.
